Lactic acid
The acid form of lactate, resulting from the proton addition to the carboxylic acid functional group. In vivo, lactic acid does not form, as cellular pH needs to be < 4 for a meaningful proportion of the lactate molecules to acquire a proton.

Lean body mass
The resulting mass of the body when all fat is removed, except for the fat from cell membranes and nerves.

Limitations
When pertaining to research design, limitations are conditions that can interfere with how an intervention influences a dependent variable, causing a decrease in internal validity. Researchers need to identify all potential limitations of their design, and control these in some way.
