Electrolytes

Charged atoms found in the human body, such as sodium (Na+), potassium (K+), calcium (Ca++), etc.

Electromyography

The study of muscle/motor unit recruitment using surface or needle electrodes to acquire the electrical signals generated by muscle fiber depolarization during contraction.

Endocrine

Relating to the endocrine system, which consists of the glands and non-glandular tissues of the body and the hormones and hormone-like substances they secrete.

Energy

The physical entity that allows the capacity to do work.

Enzymatic

Pertaining to enzymes.

Epidemiology

A type of research where numerous variables are measured, or survey responses obtained, and the scores/responses are subject to statistics that establish relationships between the variables. Often, a single variable is of primary interest, and all other variables are related to this single variable. Such statistics can also adjust the relationships based on how these variables relate to each other, which provides what is called “unique” or “partial” correlations.

Evaporation

The process of water changing state to water vapor, and in so doing, using heat and thus providing a cooling effect.
